Whichever you choose, the last part of the journey is the short boat ride from Playa Pochote.

A great option if you are planning to explore Costa Rica during your trip.

Drive from San José Airport to the Puntarenas ferry terminal.
Take the Puntarenas–Paquera ferry, about 70 minutes.
From Paquera, drive to Camping Don Trino in Playa Pochote, our meeting point.

Domestic flight to Cóbano

About $100–120 per person, one way

Direct flights from Juan Santamaría (SJO) to Cóbano Airport (ACO) take about 30 minutes, with SANSA Airlines and Costa Rica Green Airways.

We can arrange a private driver straight to our meeting point: $50 + VAT, up to 4 people.
Our boat captain meets you in Playa Pochote for the final ride to Los Vivos.

Playa Pochote to Los Vivos.

Once your arrival time is confirmed, our team coordinates the meeting with our boat captain. About five minutes later, you’re on the beach.

Already on the peninsula? Drive to Camping Don Trino in Pochote (from Santa Teresa via Cóbano, or from Guanacaste via Paquera; a 4×4 helps on unpaved roads) and park for ₡2,000 per night.

Good to know

Travel tips.

No car access: Los Vivos is reachable only by boat. Park at Camping Don Trino for ₡2,000 per night.
Book the boat: Arrange your boat transfer in advance, especially in peak season.
Ferry tickets: Buy Puntarenas to Paquera tickets ahead, particularly with a vehicle. Online booking is available.
Need help choosing?: Tell us your arrival time and we’ll help organise the whole journey.
Road conditions: Highways are paved, but rural roads can be gravel or dirt and harder in the rainy season. A 4×4 helps.
Wear sandals: You step in and out of the boat at the water’s edge.
